Helllloooo short-day Thursday! Today during periods 1, 3, and 7 we are going to be heading to the library for our Digital Citizenship class with Ms. Paganis. We'll be talking about what media is, and what kinds of media we use everyday. Then, we will be coming back to talk about a very important element of writing. We do a lot of writing throughout our lives, and it's important to know how to be an effective writer. One thing we are going to talk about is a SEE Paragraph.
SEE paragraphs help us organize our writing in a clear and concise way. It's a great building block for our writing, and we can build on it's complexity from here. Today we will focus mostly on the statement portion of the SEE paragraph. Step by step we will learn about each piece and put together a solid, well thought out paragraph.

Happy Wednesday, everyone! We've made it part way through the week! It's all downhill from here.
Today we are moving on in our book to the next chapter. Um, ok...how amazing is it starting out? I know, right? It's going to be fabulous. There's more where that came from, and I promise you that it will only get better from here. Our next chapter is going to touch on dreams. What are your dreams? How do we accomplish them? What does it mean to have a dream, and to go out and live your dream? It's a convoluted chapter, and I can't wait to pick it apart with all of you. Enjoy! On yesterday's post I attached the worksheet that goes with "The Lotus Eaters." Should you need it, please refer to yesterday's post. The day has finally arrived, everyone! Today we will start The Adventures of Ulysses!!!! I am so excited! I love this book, and I can't wait to start reading it with you. We reviewed the back story to this book. We know the major points of the Trojan War. We understand that Ulysses is a sensitive state, that he may be under a lot of stress, that he may have a difficult journey back home.
Hello and happy Monday, everyone! Welcome back to another week! This morning we are going to get right into our spelling unit. There was a severe weather drill this morning, and to save time in class, we skipped our Jumpstart Journal for today. This weeks spelling words are compound words.
Happy Friday, everyone! We have our normal Friday business to take care of today. We are going to do an iReady reflection for our Jumpstart Journal that I will collect today. I really want to know what you thought of the test, and how we can make it better for you in the future. This feedback is going to go to the other teachers as well, so we can try to make this experience as best we can for you the next two times around. Then, we have our typical spelling stuff to take care of. We are going to correct our homework, and take our test. Good luck! I hope you studied. We also have to take the MAZE benchmark today. This is a test to measure reading comprehension. This is just another data piece we use to see where you are in your learning. Please always remember, the numbers and data we use to monitor your growth do not define you as a person. There is far more that goes in to who you are than your test scores.
Remember to have a great weekend! Relax after all that testing, and remember to read!So many of us made it through the math portion of iReady, and then started the reading portion. Today, we are going to give you the opportunity to finish those tests up. Remember, this test is not timed. Please take your time and do your best. This data is hopefully going to show us what you know, how to make you a better learner and student, and challenge and push your limits! It's a great day to be better! Please don't forget earbuds!Today, we will be iReady testing in class.
Please have your earbuds with you. Remember, some questions you will know, and some you may not, but it is important to always, always do your best! Welcome back to another wonderful week! Today is Monday, which means we have spelling to take care of first thing. After we have written our Jumpstart Journal, we are going to start Unit 3 of spelling. Our pretest comes first, and then a little work time to get some of those homework pages done. After our work time, we are going to gather our items for our myth presentations. Everyone in your groups has read a different myth. Now that you are the expert, it's your job to make sure that everyone knows your myth by the end of your presentation. You are going to share the plot, the moral, some of the answers to your essential questions, and your picture you drew. While each person in your group is presenting, you are going to be taking your own notes. Yes, you have to know all the things going on in these myths. They will help you when we start getting into The Adventures of Ulysses. Reminders:
|
Today we are going to discuss the themes and morals in our myths. To do this, we are going to watch a short video clip of a story. Then, we are going to discuss the themes we saw in the movie, and the overall message that the story is trying to teach us. This video is so cute, and so funny. Ms. Sard and I were cracking up watching it. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as we did. | |
