Happy Monday, everyone! Welcome back to our last week of school before break! As part of our normal Monday business, we have our Jumpstart Journal, and Spelling Unit 19. Unit 18 is a review unit, and as I always do, I will offer that unit up for extra credit. It's the last opportunity to get a solid amount of extra credit in before the end of the quarter. But, this unit is about plural nouns. Don't be fooled: it isn't as easy as it sounds. With our fishbowl activity, we need to look at some articles about the commercialization of Christmas, which will tie in to our Starbucks cup controversy. We are going to jigsaw some articles today. This means, we are each going to read a different article, and then share out to our groups what our article was about. That way, we get a chance to hear about the information from all of them, without actually reading them all.
But, while we read, we are going to be annotating. We may or may not have ever done this before. I will demonstrate to you how to do it, and then you are going to try it on your own. Then we'll share out, and share some of our thoughts as we gather our stances on this topic. Should be lots of fun!
