Happy Wednesday, everyone! After looking at and reading I am a Native of North America and Inside the Minds of Animals, we are going to start comparing some themes. What themes do we see in each of these pieces? We're going to do a little sticky note activity to outline some of these ideas. Then, once we identify what themes are in both of these pieces, we are going compare both of these pieces and see how the ideas in both of them relate to one another. Although one of them is about the Salishan culture, and the other is about animal intelligence, can we find some similarities between them? Most of our writing lately has been contrasting viewpoints, however, today we are going to write a solid SEE paragraph comparing these two articles. What do they have in common? How do the big ideas in each make them similar? Our Spring Break Project!!! It's finally here!!
For your project over spring break, you need to look around you while you are on vacation, and find something in nature that is beautiful, unadulterated, and something that is worth saving. Mullet Fingers committed himself to saving the burrowing owls because he felt they were so important. Chief Dan George felt so passionately about Mother nature that he wrote this essay to try to relay that message. Looking at animals, we can see the beauty and elegance in them. What is something you would want to fight for? What is something in nature that is important to you? Capture it in one image, and send it to me. With all these pictures, we will create a nature photo gallery, and celebrate the beauty the earth has to offer.
