Welcome back from Thanksgiving Break!I hope we all had a wonderful, relaxing and safe holiday! It's great to be back at school, and starting up our identity unit again! We are kicking off the week with Spelling Unit 16. This is a tricky unit, so make sure you are taking your time and studying these words. Working with them on the pages has proven to be a struggle, as well, so take your time! Next we are going to talk about annotating, and how we are going to be doing that with our novel studies. Using our read aloud book Chains we are going to read the chapter, and annotate to better understand Isabel's identity. Our rules for annotating are as follows: 1. highlight any areas that give us information about our character's identity 2. underline any areas of the text that confuse you (events, etc) 3. circle words you do not understand 4. write questions, comments, connections, and explanations in the margins These rules apply not only to our example annotating today, but also to our novel studies as well. It's going to be great, you guys! I can't wait to start!
